Pātea Māori Club
The Pātea Māori Club has been in existence since the late 1960’s but came to the fore of Aotearoa music in 1983 when their hit song ‘Poi e’ was released. It was the very first reo Māori song to be released and stayed on the NZ music charts for 22 weeks, 4 of those weeks at number one. Since then the Club have continued to perform their songs to the public at many different events both nationally and internationally. In 2021 the Club was the recipient of the Taite Music Prize IMNZ Classic Record Award acknowledging the Clubs contribution to the history of NZ music.
